Code Rewrite
Hi. 'Been a while.
As the old code is just pure hyrogliphics to me at this point, I've decided to do a complete code rewrite of smash dynasty. Currently, there are only 2 characters (Astro, Gunstar) and only 1 (huge) placeholder stage. However, I intend to reinclude everything I made in Dynasty Classic up to this point. Yeah, it's called Dynasty Classic now. Feel old yet? Probably not, it's only been around a year or 2.
As it turns out, Smash Dynasty is actually getting somewhat resource intensive. Not saying that it especially is yet, but just know.
Please remember: THIS IS A PROTOTYPE OF SORTS, THERE WILL BE ISSUES.
Here are some of the changes that are being implemented. In the demo that is being released with this dev update, these features will be present:
CASUAL PLAYERS WOULD ENJOY KNOWING:
- There is genuine controller support, no more JoyToKey. Using x360ce.exe will allow use of any controller. C-Stick goodness.
- Death qwips are a thing now. No, I'm not allowing you to turn them off. They're golden.
- Names can be set. If the name isn't the default, It'll show up over your battle UI.
- 4 Player multiplayer is now supported (Note: for players 3 & 4, controllers are required. Having more than 2 players may be straining on lower end CPUs.)
FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE A LITTLE TOO INVESTED:
- Collision has been altered to be generally less wacky, certain problems may still occur
- Shields take much more time to regenerate
- A mod button has been added that allows for the use of tilts, even when performing the inputs for smash attacks.
CHARACTER SPECIFIC:
---ALL---
- Weight has been added. Characters who are heavier will be sent less far in general. (Current heaviest: Astro. He's a robot.)
- Knockback has been changed to be far more intense, now taking around 200% (versus 400%) to kill via general Up-Smash on a large stage.
---Astro---
Astro has been made a pseudo-heavy. Slow and floaty, but his hard hits hit hard.
- Forward Smash and Up Smash have been given majorly increased knockback.
- Neutral Special has been made a pushing attack, dealing no damage but pushing players who touch it. Dangerous on slower fighters.
- Down Special has had its bullets altered, still having no knockback, but stunning those each bullet touches.
- Up Special no longer has set knockback.
- Up Special gives 10 frames of invicibility when first firing.
- Jabs have been made especially faster and no longer require a timed B-Press. Simply holding the button will do.
- Other various changes have been made that I probably forgot about. (Hopefully) mostly knockback and damage increases.
---Gunstar---
Gunstar is probably akin to this games "Fox" of sort. Aerials are wild, tilts probably aren't the greatest, Smash's are ok (excluding Up Smash, which is pretty good).
- Gunstar now drops his gun whenever he goes into the air/gets hit. Cute. Don't mimic in real life.
- Terminal velocity and gravity has been increased.
- Forward air has been given much more startup, but also power. It also launches Gunstar forward.
- Back air, despite what it looks like, has been made weaker.
- Up air is now more powerful.
- Down air is less powerful in general.
- Neutral air has been the most altered, having it's vertical knockback mimick the vertical speed of the user. Deadly at terminal velocity.
- Forward tilt now has set knockback.
- Tilts in general have been weakened greatly (they were already weak, but some were less weak than others)
- All of Gunstar's projectiles have been given some form of knockback and/or stun. Chaser deals no damage, but pushes in the direction it was shot. It is slow and its push is weak, so it can be broke through via speedy attacks. (both current fighters have a solution.)
- Laser (Rapid if Gunstar Red) has been made slower and has a timer before despawning.
- Side Special now deals 2%, not 8%
- Other various changes have been made that I probably forgot about. I hope they made him less buff.
